Task Switching Test

Test your cognitive flexibility by rapidly switching between two rules. Your accuracy is your score; switch cost is tracked as a secondary stat showing how much slower you are when the rule changes.

Odd / Even: A = Odd, L = Even

Low / High: A = Low (1–4), L = High (6–9)

Press A for left, L for right — or tap the buttons

A · L

How It Works

  1. Click Start to begin.
  2. Read the cue (Odd/Even or Low/High).
  3. Press A for the left choice or L for the right choice (or tap).
  4. Finish all 60 trials to get results.
  5. Your score is your accuracy on the rapid- switching task. Switch cost shows how much slower you are when rules change — tracked as a secondary stat.

Tip: Focus on the cue first, then answer fast.

These are real attempts in a browser — every device, every connection, first tries included. Published research figures are usually collected on dedicated hardware with practiced participants under controlled conditions, so they typically run higher than what this table shows. Both are useful, and they answer different questions: a score can sit well behind the research figure and still be mid-pack among people actually taking the test here.
